This project is inspired by American painter Ellsworth Kelly, his works demonstrate unassuming techniques emphasizing line, color and form, often employing bright colors.
He created a 'temple for light' by using transcendent color glass and the architectural forms of a church in a series of works. The colored glass resembles the traditional rose window found in a church, while simultaneously adding modernity and simplicity. The intriguing shadows cast by the colored glass also remind us of a disco ball.
Therefore, we decided to combine the two seemingly unrelated ideas, church and disco ball, and join them with projection.
Clubs that wish to maintain a mysterious reputation often place their entrance in ambiguous locations, such as a bookstore or the backyard of an ordinary house. In some cases, they may even choose to set up inside a church, adding to the mystique and intrigue. We call it “A secret place in Austin,” also paying tribute to Ellsworth Kelly’s work, which is set in Austin, Texas.
